TEMPE, Ariz. – The Intercollegiate Tennis Association (ITA) announced its 2020 Scholar-Athletes and All-Academic Teams on Monday.
UAB was represented by all nine student athletes on the 2019-20 roster: Megan Bertrands, Sonia Grzywocz, Jana Hecking, Marlene Herrmann, Dominika Hrabalova, Alexandra Shchipakina, Hana Sisirak, Adela Wasserbauerova and Alexia Witthaus. The nine student-athletes are the most of the 14 Conference USA institutions.
As a team, UAB boasts a team cumulative GPA of 3.92 for the 2019-20 academic year, which earns them a position on the ITA All-Academic Team.
"Obviously, I'm proud of all our players for the discipline and dedication applied to their studies, but I am especially proud of the girls that made this list that didn't make it when they first arrived on campus as freshmen," said head coach Mark Tjia. "That is a testament to our great academic staff and the academic culture here at UAB and our athletic department."
