UAB Women’s Tennis Earns C-USA Academic Excellence Award

DALLAS – The UAB women's tennis team has earned the Conference USA Academic Excellence Award for the 2019-20 season.
The C-USA sport academic awards are given to those programs with the highest team GPA in their respective sports.
"We try to be competitive in everything we do, whether it be on the court, in the community, or in the classroom," said head coach Mark Tjia. "We are thankful to our entire academic staff, but specifically our academic advisor, Caitlin Callaghan, for all the hard work, professionalism, and assistance that she provides our players that allows us to win this award."
The Blazers finished the semester with a GPA of 3.92, the highest team GPA of any of UAB's 18 programs. Each member of the roster made the C-USA Commissioner's Academic Honor Roll. Megan Bertrands, Sonia Grzywocz, Jana Hecking, Dominika Hrabalova and Alexia Witthaus each earned C-USA Commissioner's Academic Medals, awarded to student-athletes with a GPA of 3.75 or higher.
