BIRMINGHAM - UAB women's tennis coach Mark Tjia has announced the signing of Mackenzie White to a National Letter of Intent.
A 4-star recruit from Stockbridge, Ga., White is ranked the 78th best senior according to tennisrecruting.net. She currently has a UTR of 9.56 and is ranked the eighth best player in Georgia and 24th in the Southeast region.
"We are so excited to have Mackenzie join our family," said Tjia. She shares the same values as we do and will fit perfectly with our culture. We can't wait to get our entire recruiting class on campus to start working at helping them achieve their goals."
White is coming off four victories at the 2020 USTA Southern Level 2 Championships. As a 5-seed, White earned a berth in the semifinals before the event was canceled due to weather. White defeated the 3-seed in straight sets to earn her berth.
She had an overall record of 45-13, which included a victory over a Blue Chip, three wins over 5-Stars and 15 against 4-Stars.
Mackenzie's brother Blake is a sophomore midfielder on UAB's mens' soccer team.
UAB ended its 2020 season with an 11-4 record and was on an eight match winning streak when the season was canceled on March 16.
