UAB Men’s Golf Opens Spring Slate at South Alabama

MOBILE, Ala. – The UAB men's golf team returns to the course for its spring schedule opener this Monday and Tuesday, Feb. 10-11, at the Mobile Sports Authority Intercollegiate hosted by the University of South Alabama.
The tournament will be played at Magnolia Grove Crossing Golf Course. The course will play par 72, 7212 yards, and the field will play 36 holes on Monday and the final 18 on Tuesday.
UAB will compete against Chattanooga, Denver, Florida State, Illinois, Illinois State, Louisiana, No. 15 Louisville, Richmond, South Alabama. Southern Miss, Texas State, WKU and Wofford.
Head Coach Mike Wilson will field a lineup consisting of William Walker III, Murray Naysmith, Ben Reichert, Khavish Varadan and John Snoddy. UAB enters the spring with an overall record of 48-20-0 and is ranked No. 41 nationally.
Seniors Walker III and Naysmith were lights out in the fall. Walker III posted a 70.2 stroke average in the fall, while Naysmith was right behind him at 70.7. Each of them were at or under par in all five tournaments, while Walker III had four top 15 finishes and Naysmith three.
Following this tournament, the Blazers are off for another month before playing in The Schenkel March 13-15.
