Men’s Golf Sits in Fourth After Two Rounds in Mobile

BIRMINGHAM – The UAB men's golf team is tied for fourth after playing the first two rounds of the Mobile Sports Authority Intercollegiate on Monday at RTG Magnolia Grove.
The Blazers shot a 276 (-12) in the first round and led after the first 18 holes. UAB carded a 287 in the second round (-1) and sits at -13 overall heading into Tuesday's final 18 holes.
UAB and the rest of the field will be chasing Texas State who leads at -23. Florida State (-17), Illinois (-14) UAB (-13) and No. 15 Louisville (-15) round out the top five.
True freshman Khavish Varadan led the Blazers at -5 and is tied for fifth overall. Varadan shot a five-under 67 in the first round and even par 72 in the second.
Redshirt sophomore John Snoddy is one shot behind Varadan at -4 and also had a very strong first round by shooting a four-under 68. Snoddy is tied for 10th.
Like Snoddy, senior Murray Naysmith shot -4 in the first round and followed that up with a one-over 73 in the second. Naysmith is tied for 14th overall at -3.
Senior William Walker III (73-71, E) is tied for 35th and junior Ben Reichert (74-72, +2) is tied for 49th entering the final 18 holes.
Individually, Calvin Ross (-12) of Texas State has a three shot lead over John Park of Florida State.
