Women’s Tennis Finishes Second in Nation in Helper Helper Team Challenge

BIRMINGHAM - The UAB women's tennis team is the runner-up in the 2020 Helper Helper Team Challenge. This event is an annual tournament of 64 programs – coming from all sports and all divisions - that measures each team's community service hours and participation rate during the year.
In the first round, the No. 3 seed Blazers defeated Boston College women's ice hockey team. In the second round, UAB was a winner over Stephen F. Austin women's basketball. In the Sweet 16, the Blazers defeated Boston College's football team.
UAB reached the Final Four after defeating Emporia State's women's volleyball squad and earned a berth in the championship with a win over Arkansas Tech women's volleyball.
In the championship match, the Blazers fell to Arkansas Tech softball.
In all, UAB logged 171 community service hours since the summer, with an average of 19 hours per player.
