BIRMINGHAM – Due to UAB's game against North Texas being canceled on Nov. 14, the Blazers will honor active and retired military members and front-line workers for its annual Salute to Service game against Southern Miss on Nov. 27.
"Honoring our members of the military is so important to us," Head Coach Bill Clark said. "Once the original Salute to Service game was canceled, it was an easy decision to recognize these men and women at our game on Nov. 27 against Southern Miss."
Along with UAB wearing a Red, White and Blue decal, there are many great initiatives surrounded the Salute to Service game. Fans can take part in the Tickets for Troops program by purchasing a $10 ticket by clicking here. Those tickets will then be distributed to active or retired members of the military who plan to attend the Salute to Service game.
In addition to providing tickets to active and retired military members, UAB has partnered with the Alabama Fallen Warriors Project to honor 225 service men and women from the state of Alabama who made the ultimate sacrifice since Sept. 11, 2001.
Each Fallen Warrior will have a silhouette cut out at the game and be set up in a special section at Legion Field. The veteran cutouts represent men and women from all 67 Alabama counties who have died as part of the United States armed forces.
For those who purchased the special offer of a single game ticket plus a camo beanie for $25, those hats can be picked up this week at Bartow Arena or at Legion Field on Nov. 27. For additional questions, contact the Ticket Office at 205-975-UAB1.
