BIRMINGHAM - It took just 1:44 for UAB to defeat Arkansas State in the Blazers' home opener at George Ward Park on Sunday afternoon.
The Blazers (2-2) took the doubles point withย Dominika Hrabalovaย andย Adela Wasserbauerovaย making quick work of ASU'sย Shelby King and Berta Masdevall-Masiย 6-0 andย Megan Bertrandsย andย Alexia Witthausย defeatingย Pornpawe Pramethong and Eliza Babosย 6-2.ย
In singles,ย Hrabalova coasted to a 6-0, 6-0 win overย Babosย at #6.ย Wasserbauerovaย defeated King 6-2, 6-2 at #2 and Bertrands clinched the match at #5 with a 6-1, 6-1 win againstย Amelia Guevremont.
The next four matches are on the road for UAB beginning with South Alabama on Feb. 1 and Tulane Feb. 2. The Blazers return home on Feb 22 against Murray State at noon.
