BIRMINGHAM - UAB looks to get back in the winning column when they host Louisiana Tech on Saturday afternoon at Bartow Arena. Tipoff time is at 2 p.m. The game will be streamed live on ESPN+.
UAB AND LA TECH
The series goes back to 1988 when UAB hosted LA Tech in the UAB Classic. The Blazers scored 97 points in its 18-point victory. The teams met three additional times before the Bulldogs joined Conference USA in 2013-14 – all UAB victories. LA Tech holds a 5-3 edge in C-USA games and the teams have split the two games they have matched up in the C-USA Championship.
ABOUT LA TECH
LA Tech (14-5, 5-2 C-USA) is coming off an 80-73 victory at Middle Tennessee on Thursday night. The Bulldogs are 5-4 in road games this season, but have won three of four conference road matchups. The Bulldogs are first in the league in defense, allowing 61.3 points per game. They also have C-USA's largest scoring margin of 14.2 and have won 11 games by 15 points or more. DaQuan Bracey is Tech's leading scorer with 12.5 ppg and is second in C-USA with a 50.7 3-point shooting percentage. Mubarak Muhammed leads the league in rebounding with 9.6 rpg.
LAST TIME AGAINST LA TECH
With the game knotted at 49-49, Louisiana Tech used a 15-4 run down the stretch to defeat UAB 64-53 on Jan. 10, 2019. The Blazers never led in the game but erased a 14-point first half deficit. However, back-to-back triples from Tech's Amorie Archibald and JaColby Pemberton with less than five minutes to play broke the tie and jumpstarted a run that would ultimately lead the Bulldogs to victory.
