Men’s Tennis Opens Spring Season in Starkville

BIRMINGHAM – The UAB men's tennis team opens its spring competition season on Sunday as it heads to Starkville, Miss. to take on No. 21 Mississippi State with first serve scheduled for 3 p.m.
The match marks the first meeting between the Blazers and Bulldogs since Jan. 14, 2018, also a season-opening match for the Green and Gold. The match is the schools' 24th meeting all-time, with Mississippi State owning the series edge, 22-1.
UAB looks for a big match from its breakout sophomores to open the spring. Michal Lusovsky and Roman Postolka were both named All-Conference USA in 2019 and boasted an 11-4 doubles mark last season.
The Blazers added two true freshmen to the squad prior to this season, as Parker Bradbary (Birmingham, Ala.) and Nikola Puric (Belgrade, Serbia) will be new faces this year.
Following Sunday's match, the Blazers return to the courts on Jan. 18 in Tuscaloosa, Ala. as they take on (RV) Alabama at 1 p.m.
