BIRMINGHAM – Junior Ben Reichert is tied for the individual lead and the UAB men's golf team has three players in the top 15 after 36 holes of play on Monday at the Graeme McDowell Invitational.
The Blazers are currently second place in a 19-team field at -11, and are one stroke behind North Florida who shot even par as a team in the first round and -12 collectively in the second round.
Reichert opened the day with a one-under 71, and then caught fire in the second round as he played bogey-free golf and carded five birdies en route to a five-under 67. Reichert moved up eight spots in the second round and shares the lead heading into Tuesday's final round with Linus Lo of WKU at -6.
William Walker III is tied for fourth after two rounds. Like Reichert, both of Walker's rounds today were under par as he shot -3 in the first round and -1 in the second round. He is tied with two other players at -4 entering Tuesday.
UAB was paced by senior Murray Naysmith on the first 18 holes as he shot his second-consecutive round of 67 and was tied at the top of the leaderboard after 18 holes. He was three-over in round two and finds himself tied for 11th overall at -2.
Redshirt sophomore John Snoddy showed tremendous resiliency and rebounded after shooting an opening round 77 to shoot a three-under 69 in round two and moved up 36 spots into a tie for 27th place (+2).
Freshman Khavish Varadan is tied for 60th after a 79-74 and sits at +9.
