MACON, Ga.ย - UAB's Jana Heckingย advanced to the semifinal round in singles at the Mercer Gridiron Classic this past weekend. Hecking joinedย Alexia Witthaus,ย Dominika Hrabalova andย Megan Bertrands in the Blazers' second event of the fall.
ยHecking fell 4-6, 6-3, 6-3 toย North Florida'sย Valentina Mariottoย after winning three matches.ย
Witthaus,ย Hrabalovaย andย Bertrandsย each come up short in hard fought matches. Hrabalovaย andย Bertrandsย both fell in three sets.
In UAB's only doubles action,ย Witthausย andย Hrabalova were edged out by UNF'sย Kendall Nash/Ana Paula Melilo 6-4 in the first round.
