Men’s Golf Opens 2019-20 Season at Jim Rivers Intercollegiate

BIRMINGHAM – The UAB men's golf team opens its 2019-20 season this Sunday, Monday and Tuesday, Sept. 15-17, at the Jim Rivers Intercollegiate hosted by Louisiana Tech.
The tournament will be played at Squire Creek Country Club in Choudrant, La., and the Blazers look to defend their title after taking first place at this event a year ago. Along with winning the team championship, William Walker III won the individual title last season as well.
Walker III enters his senior year as UAB's top returning player and leads the lineup this week which includes three returners and two newcomers. Along with Walker III, senior Murray Naysmith and sophomore Ethan Hagood are in the lineup, while freshman Khavish Varadan and redshirt junior Ben Reichert both play their first tournament for the Blazers. Redshirt sophomore John Snoddy will also compete as an individual.
The Blazers are one of 14 teams competing this weekend. UAB is joined by Central Arkansas, Georgia, Lamar, two Louisiana Tech teams, Mercer, Middle Tennessee, New Orleans, Nicholls State, Southeastern Louisiana, Stephen F. Austin, Texas State and Troy.
Live scoring can be found by clicking here. The tournament is set for 18 holes each day. It is a Par 72 that will play 7,070 yards.
