UAB Set to Open Conference Play at Old Dominion

BIRMINGHAM- The UAB men's soccer team will open Conference USA play Saturday in Norfolk, Va. against Old Dominion.
The Blazers (1-3-0) head into the weekend with confidence after collecting its first win of the season on Sunday off Chandler Shirley's overtime penalty kick against Milwaukee. Blake White has been red hot for UAB, scoring three goals in two games last weekend. He currently leads the Blazers in points and goals.
Old Dominion (0-3-0), who finished third in C-USA play a season ago have yet to record a win this season. ODU graduated their top two goal scorers from 2018, First Team All-Conference winners Max Wilschrey and Niko Klosterhalfen. Midfielder Deniz Dogan leads the Monarchs in goals with two so far in three games.
"This team is all about getting better though experience," said head coach Jeff Kinney. "There is no better opportunity than opening Conference USA play against Old Dominion, who has been one of the better programs in the country the last five years. We are excited to start competing in league play and hopefully can find another positive result."
Saturday night's game will be at 6 p.m. at Old Dominion Soccer Complex in Norfolk, Va. There will be live stats available and the game can be streamed online with a subscription to CUSA.tv.
