Walker III Named Srixon/Cleveland Golf Scholar All-American

BIRMINGHAM - Senior William Walker III has been named a Srixon/Cleveland Golf Scholar All-American, the Golf Coaches Association of America announced on Wednesday.
Walker III was eligible for this prestigious recognition by maintaining a GPA of 3.2 or higher, participating in 50 percent of his team's competitive rounds and having a stroke average under 76.0.
The psychology major carries a 3.3 GPA with a minor in human services. In 2018-19, Walker III was named to the Conference USA Honor Roll for a third straight year.
On the course, Walker III was one of Conference USA's top golfers all season en route to First Team All-Conference honors.
In six spring tournaments, Walker III notched four top 10 finishes and five top 20 finishes. Overall, he took first at one tournament, and was runner-up at two more. He placed sixth at the Conference USA Championship. He also led the team in tournaments under par (5) and rounds at or under par (15).
Walker III enters his final year for the Green and Gold as the leader of a team that only lost one player from last year's squad who finished 91-54-3 overall. The Blazers look to make it back to NCAAs in 2020 with a cast of veteran players.
