Walker III Notches Top 10 Finish for Men’s Golf at The Hayt

PONTE VERDA BEACH, Fla. - Led by redshirt junior William Walker III, the UAB men's golf team placed 13th at The Hayt hosted by North Florida in Ponte Verda Beach.
Walker III notched his fourth top-10 finish of the season by tying for 8th overall at +3. Walker III opened the tournament with a one under 71, and followed that up with consecutive rounds of 74 for his final mark of three over (71-74-74 = 219, +3).
In rainy and windy conditions throughtout the day, it was a tough final round for the Blazers who shot +30 in Monday's last 18 holes and finished +51 for the tournament.
John Snoddy was UAB's second finisher as he tied for 39th and +12, and was followed by Nick Robillard (T66, +18), Murray Naysmith (T76, +23) and John Hayden (83rd, +26).
It was a loaded field that featured nine top 50 teams, and Tennessee came away with the team title at 11 over par, and was followed by Louisville (+20), North Florida (+22), North Carolina (+22) and NC State (+23).
The Blazers have one final tournament before the Conference USA Championship, and it is in their backyard at Shoal Creek for the Auburn Intercollegiate. The tournament is scheduled for April 15-16.
