UAB is recognizing the senior class of 2019 this week. Today Lewis Sullivan is featured.
What a career Lewis Sullivan has had at UAB.
Coming out of Hazel Green High School in Huntsville, ESPN ranked Sullivan the No. 6 overall high school prospect in the state of Alabama. Although he had options such as Ole Miss, Florida, Alabama, Georgia and Mississippi State, Sullivan opted to play at UAB.
Sullivan was part of 86 victories during his time in uniform (he missed the 2016-17 season with an injury), which is the most for a Blazer since 2011. His accuracy on the court has him ranked seventh all-time in UAB history with a 54.1 shooting percentage.
During his stellar senior season, Sullivan started all 35 games, increased his points per game average 71 percent from 7.2 as a junior to 12.3 as a senior, scored in double figures in 28 games – including 15 of the 18 C-USA games and finished eighth in the league with 6.8 rebounds per contest. He had a career-tying 22 point effort against FIU and recorded four double-doubles (New Orleans, North Alabama, UTEP, Marshall).
Sullivan was part of three postseason teams – the 2015 squad that upended top seed Louisiana Tech in the semifinals before defeating Middle Tennessee to be crowned C-USA champions, the 2016 team that won the C-USA regular season championship and got an automatic bid to the NIT and this year's team that played in the CBI.
At Bartow, Sullivan-led teams went an impressive 56-13, winning 81 percent of the games on the home floor.
Thank you Lewis.
