Women’s Tennis Falls at Marshall 6-1

HUNTINGTON, W.Va. – The UAB women's tennis team dropped a 6-1 decision to Marshall on Saturday afternoon in Huntington.
The Thundering Herd won both doubles matches and took singles matches on courts 1, 3, 4 and 5. UAB (5-11, 1-1 C-USA) did not have a player on courts six or in third doubles due to injury.
The Blazers got their lone point of the match after Alex Shchipakina rallied from being down a set to defeat Daniela Dankanych, 0-6, 6-3, 6-0.
UAB battled to a pair of singles matches that ended in tiebreakers. At No.1, Marlene Herman won the first set 6-3 over Anna Smith before dropping the second set 7-5. In the breaker, Smith came out ahead 10-5. At No. 3, Dominika Hrabalova fell 6-4 in the first set to Victoria Walter before coming back to win the second set 6-4. Walker took the breaker 10-4.
After a week off, the Blazers will travel to Atlanta to take on Georgia State on Mar. 23rd.
