Men’s Golf in Fourth After Two Rounds at Palmetto Invitational

AIKEN, S.C. - Led by redshirt junior William Walker III, the UAB men's golf team is currently in fourth place after the first two rounds on Monday at The Cleveland Golf Palmetto Intercollegiate.
Walker III had a big first round which catapulted him to the top of the leaderboard after shooting a six under 64 on the first 18 holes. The Tuscaloosa native carded six birdies and no bogeys in the opening round of play.
The field played 36 holes on Monday and Walker III shot two over in the second round and is currently tied for fourth place overall at -4.
Walker III is currently the only Blazer under par as UAB (+4) sits in fourth place entering the concluding round of play. Following Walker III is senior John Hayden who shot 71-70 and is +1, which has him tied for 13th.
At three over par, sophomore Nick Robillard is tied for 28th, while Murray Naysmith is one shots behind Robillard at +4 and is tied for 39th. Naysmith shot a one under 69 in round two. John Snoddy rounded out the Blazers' roster as he sits tied for 77th.
UAB and the field will be chasing South Carolina who has built a substantial lead at -23. Virginia is in second place at -6, followed by Clemson (+1), UAB (+4) and Memphis (+5).
Individually, the Gamecocks have two players at the top of the leaderboard with Will Miles (-11) and Ryan Stachler (-6) leading the field of 90 golfers.
