Men’s Soccer Announces Spring Slate

BIRMINGHAM – Under first year head coach Jeff Kinney, the UAB men's soccer team has announced its 2019 spring slate.
The abbreviated season features five dates against six opponents, including the newest professional soccer team in the city, the Birmingham Legion.
Play opens on Feb. 16 when the Blazers head east to Atlanta to face Georgia State. The two squads met in the 2018 regular season finale with the Blazers earning the 4-0 win.
UAB returns to Birmingham for three dates, beginning March 2 with the Legion. The Legion, who also call BBVA Compass Field home, features former Blazers Mathieu Laurent and Gael Mabiala.
Montevallo makes the short trip up I-65 on March 6, before AUM and Martin Methodist come to Birmingham on March 23.
The spring closes with a familiar foe on April 6 when the Green and Gold travel to Memphis. The two squads are no strangers to each other, meeting 29 times before, including last season in a match that ended in a 1-1 double overtime tie.
UAB is coming off of a 6-9-3 season that ended in an overtime 1-0 loss to Charlotte in the Conference USA Tournament.
