UAB to Host Middle Tennessee for Bartow Classic Saturday Night

BIRMINGHAM – Playing the annual Bartow Classic, the UAB men's basketball team hosts Middle Tennessee on Saturday night at Bartow Arena. Tip is set for 7 p.m. on ESPN+.
The Blazers and Blue Raiders are meeting for the second time in four days, and UAB looks to avenge a 71-65 loss suffered on Wednesday night in Murfreesboro.
At 14-8 overall and 6-3 in league play, the Blazers are a half-game out of first place and sit in a four-way tie for second place with Marshall, North Texas and UTSA. After 14 league games, the top five teams will be placed in a pod and play their four remaining games against each other.

STORYLINES:
- Sophomore guard Zack Bryant stuffed the stat sheet against the Blue Raiders on Wednesday, going for 21 points, six rebounds, five assists and four steals, all of which were team-highs.
- Bryant has been on a hot streak of late, averaging 19.8 points, 4.0 assists, 3.8 rebounds and 2.4 steals per game over his last five contests. Included in that was a career-high 30-point performance at Rice.
- Along with honoring Gene Bartow and 40 years of UAB basketball on Saturday, it is also Alumni Weekend as over 50 former Blazers will be back in attendance for the game.
- Freshman Tavin Lovan has embraced his role as sixth man and has put together a stellar freshman campaign to date. Lovan is making 54.5 percent of his shots overall which is sixth best in Conference USA. During league play, Lovan is 8.3 points, 4.2 rebounds in 20.2 minutes of action.
- The Blazers open a three-game home stand on Saturday and return to Bartow Arena where they are 10-1 this season. Following the Blue Raiders, UAB welcomes league leader Old Dominion (Feb. 7) followed by Charlotte (Feb. 9).
