BIRMINGHAM – The UAB women's basketball team will kick off a four-game road stretch at Memphis Sunday afternoon at 2 p.m.

Miyah Barnes is right behind her with 16.1 points while leading the conference in assists with 4.7 per game. Junior college transfer Zakyia Weathersby had a career performance Tuesday night against Samford recording 10 points, seven rebounds and six blocks. Her six blocks were second most in a single game in UAB history.

Sophomore guard Jamirah Shutes leads the Tigers in scoring (17.8), assists (34) and steals (20). "Memphis is always a big and physical team," said head coach Randy Norton. "They are a great rebounding team with some athletic kids. They are going to play really hard and it is on the road at their place, so we know it is going to be a challenging game physically."
In 53 meetings Memphis leads the series with 32 wins to UAB's 21. The Blazers' 85-54 victory last season stopped a six-game win streak for the Tigers over UAB. Childress led all scorers with 23 points including five made three pointers, four assists and one block in the win.
