DALLAS- Seniors Chris Reichman and Chase Rushing of the UAB men's soccer team were both named Third Team All-Conference USA as announced by the league office on Tuesday afternoon.
Reichman, a redshirt senior defender from Denver, Colo., appeared in all 17 games for the Blazers making 16 starts. Reichman was the anchor of the UAB backline, playing the fourth most minutes on the team. He played a crucial part in UAB's shutout victory over South Carolina on Oct. 12 with dominant play in the air and shutting down the Gamecock forwards by only allowing seven shots, two on goal in the match. Reichman was one of three players selected as a captain for the 2019 UAB squad.
Rushing is a senior midfielder from New Orleans, La. who made 16 appearances and 15 starts for the Blazers in 2019. He was a leader in the midfield by helping UAB on both the defensive and offensive ends of the field. Rushing recorded an assist in the Blazers' opening game against Marquette and tallied seven shots on the season. Like Reichman, Rushing was one of three players selected as a captain for the 2019 UAB squad.
"Both of these seniors deserve all the accolades they receive," said head coach Jeff Kinney. "They did a great job for us on the field and will be missed not only for their abilities but their leadership on and off the field. I am proud of both of them."
It is the first time both Reichman and Rushing have received All-Conference USA honors for their play. The two seniors finished their careers with a combined 125 appearances for the Green and Gold.
