UAB Opens Home Schedule Against Alabama A&M

BIRMINGHAM – Coming off a dramatic 76-75 victory at Troy on Nov. 7, the UAB men's basketball team opens up the 2019-20 home season Monday night as the Blazers travel host Alabama A&M. The game will be streamed on CUSA.TV and has a tipoff time of 7 p.m.
UAB AND ALABAMA A&M HISTORY
UAB and Alabama A&M began their series almost 20 years ago on Nov. 23, 1999. In the inaugural meeting, the Blazers won convincingly 82-53. This was the first of eight games that UAB would win by more than 20 points. In the 12 meetings, UAB has won each by double-figures.
ABOUT ALABAMA A&M
Head coach Dylan Howard is in his second season after leading AAMU to a 5-27 record last year. He was named head coach on March 19, 2019 after serving 2018-19 as interim head coach. The Aggies were predicted to finish eighth in 10 teams in the preseason SWAC poll. AAMU is coming off a 106-66 loss at Tennessee State on Nov. 5. TJ Parhman and Cameron Alford each 14 points in the loss.

In his homecoming game, Lewis Sullivan notched a season-high 12 points on 5-of-7 shooting and pulled down six boards in UAB's 67-57 victory. His point total was matched by Tavin Lovan, who scored in double figures for the second-straight game with 12 points and matched a career-high with seven rebounds.
KEEP AN EYE ON
Zack Bryant needs 30 points for 1,000 on his career. The junior guard was named to the Conference USA 2019-20 Preseason Team. The junior guard finished last year as UAB's leading scorer with 14.9 points per game and was an All-Conference USA Third Team selection.
