Men’s Golf in Fifth After 36 Holes of Jerry Pate Intercollegiate

BIRMINGHAM – Led by senior William Walker III, the UAB men's golf team is in fifth place after two rounds of the Jerry Pate National Intercollegiate hosted by the University of Alabama at Old Overton Club.
Walker III is tied for fifth overall as he collectively shot five-under in the two rounds. Walker III came out of the gates on fire by making birdies on five of his first six holes. He finished the first round shooting a three-under 67 and came back in the second round to shoot a two-under 68.
Ben Reichert carded UAB's second lowest score at +1 and is tied for 18th. Reichert opened his day with a two-under 68, but shot a +3 in the second round for his final 36-hole score of +1.
Freshman Khavish Varadan shot a three-over 73 in the first round and followed that up with an even par 70 in round two. Varadan is tied for 25th heading into Tuesday's final round.
Senior Murray Naysmith is also tied for 25th at +3. Naysmith carded a two-over 72 in the first round and a one-over 71 in the second.
John Snoddy rounded out UAB's lineup and recovered nicely from an opening round 78 to shoot a one-over 71 in the second round. Snoddy is tied for 43rd overall.
UAB collectively shot an even par 280 in both rounds. BYU is leading the field at -18 and is followed by Colorado State (-16), Auburn (-9) and Minnesota (-1) and the Blazers (E).
Individually, Angus Flanagan of Minnesota and Parathakorn Suyasri of Colorado State are the leaders in the clubhouse at -8.
Tuesday's final round is set to begin at 8 a.m. Fans can follow live results by clicking here.
