UAB Hosts UTEP on Thursday

BIRMINGHAM – Coming off their Conference USA opener on Sunday, UAB (2-3-3, 0-1-0 C-USA) will host UTEP (7-2-2, 2-0-0 C-USA) at BBVA Field on Thursday night at 7 p.m.
THE SERIES
The Blazers lead the all-time series 6-5-3 in a series that started in 2000. In matches played in Birmingham, UAB leads 4-1-2. The Blazers have won the last four meetings - only surrendering a single goal – and are undefeated in the last five matches dating back to Oct. 3, 2013.
UAB LATELY
The Blazers are coming off 2-1 setback against FAU on Sept.29. Regan Kommor scored UAB's only goal. Johanna Popp made her first start since Aug. 30 at South Alabama and made six saves.
UTEP LATELY
The Miners got two goals in 54 seconds apart in the second half in their 3-2 come-from-behind victory at Marshall on Sept. 26. UTEP is currently tied for third place in the C-USA standings with six points. Lauren Crenshaw is tied for eighth in the conference with five goals. Tessa Carlin is tied for second in the league with five assists. Keeper Emily Parrott is 10th with a GAA of 1.11 and a save percentage of .739. She has recorded three shutout on the season.
CAN'T GET THE BALL BEYER
Eve Beyer leads Conference USA with a 0.22 goals against average. The freshman has recorded three straight shutouts and has only allowed one goal all season. She currently is seventh in the NCAA in goals against average.
