BIRMINGHAM - The UAB men's golf team is nationally ranked No. 25 in the initial Golfstat.com poll which was released Wednesday morning by the official publication.
This is the highest the Blazers have been ranked since finishing the 2013-14 season at No. 19 in the final Golfstat.com rankings.
"We are really pleased with the start of our season," head coach Mike Wilson said. "There has been a lot of solid golf played by several guys on the team. It is nice to be ranked in the top 25, and with continued good play we know we can move up the rankings."
Individually, UAB has three players ranked, two of which are inside the top 100, led by redshirt senior William Walker III who is No. 55. In his three tournaments this season, Walker III has placed 3rd, 8th and 15th.
