UAB Finishes 14th at USA Intercollegiate

MOBILE, Ala. - In its first tournament of the 2018-19 season, the UAB women's golf team finished 14th overall at the USA Intercollegiate hosted by South Alabama at Robert Trent Jones Magnolia Grove Crossing Course.
The Blazers shot a 305 during Monday's final round and finished with a collective 902 for the tournament (300-297-305 = 902, +38).
Senior Maria Donado led the Blazers for the tournament and tied for 42nd place overall at +8, but was hindered by a nine-over in her final round.
Kendall Johnson was UAB's second finisher at +9 and was four-over for her round. She tied for 44th place overall.
Following a three-over yesterday, Tia Tieniketo shot +3 today as well and ended the tournament at +10 and in a tie for 48th place overall. Lexie Dawson (+16) and Stephenie Fowler (+19) rounded out UAB's efforts in 69th and 79th place, respectively.
Kenna Hughes provided a bright spot for the Blazers by finishing the tournament in a tie for 24th place overall. Hughes played consistent golf the entire week and posted a one-over 73 in each of her three rounds.
Cal Baptist won the tournament at -4, while Mary Joiner of Western Kentucky took home individual honors at -8 and won the tournament by four strokes.
The Blazers will be off next week before traveling to the Stramount Fall Classic hosted by UNC Greensboro, Oct. 1-2.
