BIRMINGHAM – The UAB men's soccer team begins a two-game homestand on Tuesday night when it welcomes Memphis to BBVA Compass Field. Kickoff between the Blazers and Tigers is slated for 7 p.m.
UAB (1-5-0, 0-2-0 C-USA) is coming off a 2-1 double overtime loss at FIU on Friday night. DeAndre Robinson netted his fourth career goal and first since 2016, in the defeat. Robinson is one of five Blazers to find the back of the net.
Seth Torman earned his first career start at FIU on Friday night. The redshirt freshman played in the entire match and totaled eight saves in just his second appearance for the Green and Gold.
Memphis (4-2-1, 0-0-0 American) is playing its final tuneup before beginning its conference slate. The Tigers are coming off consecutive shutouts of Utah Valley and Belmont and have tallied three shutouts this season.
The Tigers are not strangers to Birmingham as they played in UAB's Soccer for a Cure Classic, going 1-1 with a win over Fairleigh Dickinson and a loss to Coastal Carolina.
Peyton McKnatt leads the team in goals (3) and points (8). The midfielder's two assists have come in the last two games.
Tuesday night marks the 39th meeting between UAB and Memphis with the series tied at 19 apiece. The Blazers have been successful in Birmingham as they have taken 10 of the 17 games played on the Southside.
Tickets are available to the game online, or at the BBVA Compass Ticket Office. They are $5 for adults and $3 for kids 18 and younger.
Fans can receive admission into every home men's soccer, women's soccer, women's basketball, volleyball, baseball and softball game for the entire 2018-19 season by purchasing a Gold Card. Contact the UAB Ticket Office, (205) 975-UAB1, for more details.
