BIRMINGHAM, Ala. – The UAB women's soccer team looks to snap a two-match losing streak on Sunday afternoon when it travels to Atlanta to kick off a three-game road swing beginning with Georgia State at 5 p.m. CST.
UAB (1-3-0) has been extremely successful against Georgia State despite only facing the Panthers twice in program history, winning the two meetings by a total score of 3-0 and holding GSU scoreless over 180 minutes.
UAB is coming off a heartbreaking 1-0 overtime loss to Memphis on Sunday at BBVA Compass Field. Goalkeeper Kelsey Daugherty's career-high 11 saves kept the Blazers in the match after getting outshot, 24-2.
Heading into Sunday's contest, the Green and Gold will be looking for their first road goal of the season. Kamilah Mustafa and Jamiera Lunsford currently hold the Blazers' only goals of the season, with both finding the back of the net against Samford on August 26.
Georgia State (2-2-1) is coming off a thrilling 2-1 road victory in double overtime at Chattanooga on Friday night. Hannah Davis claimed the game winner for the Panthers in the 105th minute, her second goal of the season.
Junior Brooke Shank leads GSU in points (6), goals scored (3), and shots (11), while Davis has added two goals of her own. Senior Monique Hundley is the team's leading assister with two on the season.
The two programs last met on Aug. 18, 2017, when a Rachel Green goal propelled the Blazers to a 1-0 victory at BBVA Compass Field. UAB also won the lone meeting in Atlanta, topping GSU, 2-0, on Sept. 2, 2007.
Live stats will be available for the game and can be found here, while fans planning to attend the game will receive free admission at the GSU Soccer Complex.
