2018-2019 UAB Women’s Tennis Schedule Announced

BIRMINGHAM, Ala. – UAB head women's tennis coach Mark Tjia has announced the official 2018-2019 schedule for his team, which features matches against ten programs that finished last season in the top-100 in the nation.
The Blazers open the season in Midland, Texas, at the Racquet Club College Invitational (Sept. 14-16), before traveling to the Milwaukee Classic (Sept. 20-23).
The Blazers then return to Birmingham to take part in the Samford Tournament (Sept. 28-30) and the Samford Hidden Dual (Oct. 5-7). The ITA Southern Regionals in Oxford, Mississippi (Oct. 12-14) will play host to the Blazers prior to the team partaking in the Robert Allison Invitational (Oct. 26-28), which will be held in Tuscaloosa.
The fall season wraps up in Bradenton, Florida, at the Lakewood Ranch Dick Vitale Clay Court Classic (Nov. 2-4).
Looking to build on last season's 8-3 home record, the Blazers home schedule opens against Belmont (Jan. 19). Six-straight away matches follow, as the team travels to Alabama (Jan. 20), Lipscomb (Jan. 26), Tennessee State (Jan. 27), Kennesaw State (Feb. 1), Auburn (Feb. 2), and Houston (Feb. 3). Both the Auburn and Houston matches will be held at the Yarbrough Tennis Center in Auburn, Alabama.
In-state foe South Alabama will visit George Ward Park (Feb. 9) before the Blazers head out on a three-match road trip to face Mississippi State (Feb. 10), WKU (Feb. 16), and Samford (Feb. 21).
The Blazers host Tulane (Feb. 24), then head to Mercer (Feb. 27) ahead of returning home to play three matches against Alabama A&M (March 2), Jackson State (March 3), and Memphis (March 8).
Matches at North Alabama (March 10), Virginia Tech (March 13), Marshall (March 16), and Georgia State (March 23) wrap up the away schedule. The regular season concludes with home matches against Middle Tennessee (March 31) and Southern Miss (April 6).
The Conference USA Tournament will be played in Miami, Florida and will take place from April 18-21.
