BIRMINGHAM, Ala. – The NCAA announced Wednesday Academic Performance Program (APP) recognition for the UAB men's tennis, women's tennis and women's golf teams after maintaining superior levels of success in the classroom.
The academic honor highlights teams that posted multiyear APR scores in the top 10 percent of all squads in their respective sports.
The APR provides a real-time look at a team's academic success each semester by tracking the academic progress of each student-athlete on scholarship.
"Academic excellence continues to be synonymous with UAB Athletics and I commend the student-athletes, academic advisors and coaches for their hard work," UAB Director of Athletics Mark Ingram said. "Student-athletes must balance a demanding schedule and it is gratifying to see their hard work recognized."
This announcement is part of the overall Division I academic reform effort and is intended to highlight teams that demonstrate a commitment to academic progress and retention of student-athletes by achieving the top APRs within their respective sports.
Multiyear APRs for all Division I teams, including the teams receiving public recognition, will be announced May 23.
