BIRMINGHAM, Ala. – The UAB football program hosted its Pro Day on Thursday morning as six draft-eligible Blazers worked out in front of 30 NFL scouts representing 23 teams.
UAB's Pro Day participants included Shaq Jones, Roderick McKinney, Teko Powell, Chris Schleuger, Darryl Waters and Darious Williams.
"Today couldn't have gone better and I am proud of how our guys performed today," head coach Bill Clark said. "The NFL was very well represented here today and it was great for our underclassmen to also get a glimpse into what it takes to reach the next level."
Williams, who was named First Team All-Conference USA and ranked in the top five in the NCAA in passes defended and interceptions, had a stellar day in front of the scouts. Williams had a vertical of 39 inches which would have tied him for second among cornerbacks at the NFL Combine.
He also ran an unofficial 4.44 in the 40-yard dash which would place him tied for ninth with other corners at the combine.
Jones also turned in a solid Pro Day participating in the bench press, vertical jump, broad jump, 40-yard dash, 20-yard shuttle, 60-yard shuttle and the 3-cone drill.
Defensive linemen McKinney, Powell and Waters were impressive in their position drills as was offensive lineman Schleuger.
The 2018 NFL Draft runs April 26-28 at AT&T Stadium in Arlington, Texas.
