UAB Hosts Samford in Final March Home Game

BIRMINGHAM, Ala. – The UAB baseball team is set to play its 13th and final home game in the month of March when it welcomes Samford to Regions Field on Tuesday at 6:30 p.m.
Quick Hitters
- UAB (10-12, 3-3 C-USA) is coming off of a weekend in which it went 1-2 against LA Tech. Tanner Graham pitched lights out on Friday, lasting a career high 8.1 innings as the Blazers grabbed their third shutout of the season with a 3-0 win
- Graham has been dominant for the Blazers this season. The Friday night starter ranks sixth in Conference USA in ERA with a 1.60 mark, is tied for fourth in earned runs allowed (6), tied for fifth in runs allowed (10) and is tied for 11th in hits allowed (27)
- Cole Collins has been anything but cold since making his way into the starting lineup. Collins is hitting a team-best .356 to go along with four runs scored, 16 hits with two doubles, five RBI and 18 total bases
- Colton Schultz is coming off the best hitting week of his career. The sophomore tallied multi-hit games against Alabama and LA Tech, ending the week with eight hits, three runs and two RBI
- The UAB defense's 1.1 double plays per game is the 15th most in the NCAA while its 23 double plays rank 18th
Scouting Samford
- Samford (11-14, 1-2) opened Southern Conference play over the weekend by dropping the first and third games of its series against East Tennessee State, but picked up a 6-2 win in game two
- Wyatt Burns leads the Bulldogs' pitching staff with a 1.53 ERA over 17.2 innings pitched. The Pinson, Ala., native has picked up three saves this season while striking out 32 batters and allowing just three earned runs
- Brooks Carlson is hitting a team-best .313, and is tallying a team-best 25 hits with 11 RBI. Anthony Mulrine has added power to the lineup hitting a team-best five home runs
