BIRMINGHAM, Ala. – In response to the tornados that passed through north and central Alabama on March 19, the UAB softball team is asking that all fans in attendance of UAB's game with Jacksonville State on Wednesday, March 28, bring nonperishable food items or bottled water.
All items collected during Wednesday's contest will be given to Jacksonville State following the game.
"We share a very close relationship with Jacksonville State, coach Jana McGinnis and their entire softball family," head coach Amanda Ellis said. "As soon as we heard about everything they went through, we reached out to offer support for them and the entire Jacksonville community. You take care of family."
A table will be set up inside Mary Bowers Field where a member of the UAB softball staff will receive the donations. First pitch on Wednesday is scheduled for 5 p.m.
