UAB Travels to Louisville for the Red and Black Classic

BIRMINGHAM, Ala. – Coming off its first two home games of the season the UAB softball team will hit the road again and head north to Louisville for the Red and Black Classic, the Blazers will play five games from March 1-3.
UAB will kick things off tonight against Louisville at 5 p.m. at Ulmer Stadium. The Green and Gold will then play two games on Friday, March 2 and two on Saturday, March 3.

Need to Know
The Blazers are coming off two tough home losses to No. 11 Alabama and South Alabama, falling to the Crimson Tide 4-0 and the Jaguars 6-4. In both games UAB played well but couldn't get hits with runners in scoring position and left five on base against Alabama and 10 against South Alabama.
This is UAB's first trip to Louisville since winning the 2013 NCAA Regional where it knocked off host Louisville 7-4 and then beat UCLA twice 6-3 and 3-2 to advance to the Super Regional.
History Against the Field
UAB is 6-20 against the four teams it will face this weekend but has won the last matchups against each team with the exception of Miami (OH).
Louisville
The Blazers are 4-18 all-time against the Cardinals but won the last matchup in 2013 7-4 in the NCAA Regional hosted by Louisville.
IUPUI
The two schools have only met once before with UAB winning 3-0 on Feb.17, 2013.
Eastern Illinois
UAB and Eastern Illinois have only met once in program history on Feb. 26, 2011 which saw the Blazers come away with the win 3-0.
Miami (OH)
The Blazers and RedHawks haven't met since Feb. 26, 2006 which saw Miami (OH) come away with a 7-3 win. UAB trails the series 0-1.

Following the Red and Black Classic UAB will play a doubleheader at Kennesaw State on Wednesday, March 7 before opening up conference play at home against Marshall.
