BIRMINGHAM – Coming off its first home win of the season, the UAB men's soccer looks to continue that momentum when it welcomes Appalachian State to BBVA Compass Field on Wednesday. Kickoff between the Blazers and Mountaineers is slated for 7 p.m.
UAB (3-6-2, 1-3-1) picked up its first Conference USA win on Saturday with a 4-0 shutout of New Mexico. The win marked the first shutout of the season, while Aidan O'Hara found the back of the net twice in the contest.
O'Hara and DeAndre Robinson lead the team with three goals apiece. Both have a multi-goal game under their belt, while Robinson also leads the team in assists and points.
James Teal has logged the majority of minutes in net this season for UAB. The sophomore has allowed 10 goals, but has collected 19 saves and has a 65.5 save percentage.
Appalachian State (6-2-2, 0-0-1) is coming off its Sun Belt Conference opener on Saturday when it battled Georgia State to 0-0 draw. The shutout marked the fifth of the Mountaineers' season and their third in the last four games.
Camden Holbrook leads the team in goals (5) and points (11). The freshman was recently named the Sun Belt Offensive Player of the Week, becoming the fourth Mountaineer to garner the award this season.
UAB and Appalachian State are meeting for just the second time in program history and for the first time since 1984 when the Mountaineers defeated the Blazers 12-0 in Birmingham.
Tickets to Wednesday's contest can be purchased at the entrance to BBVA Compass Field and are $5 for adults or $3 for kids 18 and younger.
Fans can receive admission into every home men's soccer, women's soccer, women's basketball, volleyball, baseball and softball game for the entire 2018-19 season by purchasing a Gold Card. Contact the UAB Ticket Office, (205) 975-UAB1, for more details.
