Men’s Soccer Earns United Soccer Coaches’ Team Academic Award

KANSAS CITY – The UAB men's soccer team earned a United Soccer Coaches' Team Academic Excellence Award, the league office announced on Thursday.
Teams honored are active member of the United Soccer Coaches College Services Program and had a team GPA of 3.0 or higher for the 2017-18 academic year. The Blazers carried a 3.2 GPA and were one of five Conference USA men's programs to earn the award.
"I am vey proud of the continued success our team has in the classroom," head coach Mike Getman said. "This is the sixth year in a row that our team has achieved this level of success. Our guys work hard on and off the field."
Eder Mora shined in the classroom individually for the Blazers last season as he became the 14th Blazer named to the C-USA All-Academic Team. A student in the distinguished Collat School of Business, Mora carries a 3.91 GPA in finance.
The Blazers return to the pitch on Saturday when they continue league play by welcoming New Mexico to BBVA Compass Field. Kickoff between the Blazers and Lobos is set for 7 p.m.
Fans can receive admission into every home men's soccer, women's soccer, volleyball, women's basketball, baseball and softball game for the entire 2018-19 season by purchasing a Gold Card. Contact the UAB Ticket Office, (205) 975-UAB1, for more details.
