UAB Welcomes C-USA Second Place Old Dominion

BIRMINGHAM – The UAB men's soccer team puts its four-game unbeaten streak on the line when it welcomes Old Dominion to BBVA Compass Field on Sunday. Kickoff between the Blazers and Monarchs is slated for 3:30 p.m.
UAB (5-6-3, 2-3-1) is coming off a 1-1 double overtime tie against Georgia Southern on Tuesday. The Blazers are looking for their first match unbeaten streak since 2014.
The Blazers their previous three matches before the tie, marking the first UAB team to win three straight since 2014.
Against Georgia Southern, Blake White netted his third goal of the season and is tied with DeAndre Robinson and Aidan O'Hara for the team-lead in goals.
Gael Mabiala has been a spark plug on the backline for the Blazers all season. The senior defender helped UAB pitch consecutive shutouts against New Mexico and Appalachian State, while pitching in and leading the team in assists.
Old Dominion (8-3-2, 4-1-0) comes to Birmingham in second place in the C-USA standings. The Monarchs are tied for first in the league in points (71), are in sole possession of first in assists (23) and rank second in assists per game (1.8). Meanwhile, Max Wilschrey leads the team in goals (10) and points (24). The senior forward ranks second in the league in goals, points and points per game.
Nike Klosterhalfen leads the conference and the team in assists with six. The senior has two multi-assist games under his belt this season.
UAB and Old Dominion are meeting for the 10th time in program history on Sunday with the Monarchs leading the series 8-0-1. The Blazers are 0-2-1 against the Monarchs in Birmingham.
Sunday's game is part of the homecoming double header with women's soccer, as the ladies take on Southern Miss at 1 p.m. One ticket grants admission into both games. Fans that attend the UAB football game on Sunday can bring their ticket stub to the soccer games or the volleyball game at Bartow Arena and receive a $1 ticket.
