Brooker Named C-USA Offensive Player of the Week

IRVING, Texas – Junior forward Adam Brooker of the UAB men's soccer team has been named the Conference USA Offensive Player of the Week the league office announced on Monday.
Brooker is the second Blazer to earn Offensive Player of the Week honor this season as Philip Makinde garnered the award on Sept. 24.
Brooker earned the award after he netted game winners in the closing minutes of UAB's matches this week against Appalachian State and at Florida Atlantic. Against the Mountaineers, he found the back of the net in the 87th minute for the game's only goal in the 1-0 win. At Florida Atlantic, Brooker netted the golden goal in the 115th-minute on a cross from Gael Mabiala.
The goals were Brooker's first and second of the season and brings the junior's career total to three, while helping the Blazers extend their winning streak to three games.
"Adam had two game winners in the closing minutes of two matches," head coach Mike Getman said. "He has been Mr. Clutch."
UAB looks to continue its winning streak when it welcomes Georgia Southern to BBVA Compass Field on Tuesday night. Kickoff between the Blazers and Eagles is slated for 7 p.m.
