Blazers Welcome UTSA on Family Fun Day

BIRMINGHAM, Ala. – The UAB men's basketball team put the finishing touches on the month of January when the Blazers host UTSA Saturday at 7 p.m. at Bartow Arena. All fans who purchase an adult ticket will receive a free youth ticket.
Fans are encouraged to spend the day on campus and participate in a variety of exciting activities that begins with the Ever Faithful 5K Run at 10:30 a.m.
Participants will receive admission to both the UAB men's basketball game against UTSA at 7 p.m. and the women's basketball game against Florida Atlantic at 4 p.m., as well as a long sleeve race shirt and will have the opportunity to participate in the post-run party at Bartow Arena.
The run/walk is open to both males and females of all ages with the path being kid friendly. The course will begin at Bartow Arena and travel down to Railroad Park and across the street to the Rotary Trail before making its way back to campus.

UAB (14-7, 5-3) sits in fifth place in Conference USA after defeating UTEP 85-78 on Thursday behind 19 points and four rebounds from junior Lewis Sullivan. Senior forward William Lee blocked two shots and became UAB's all-time leading shot blocker with 267 career rejections.
Senior Chris Cokley added his 10th double-double of the year with 15 points and 11 rebounds. Cokley ranks 16th in the NCAA in double-doubles and is looking to become the first Blazer since Cameron Moore in 2012 to have one in four consecutive games. Overall, Cokley paces the team with 18. 2 points and 9.6 rebounds per game and ranks sixth in Conference USA in scoring and first in rebounding.
Nate Darling finished with 17 points, four three-pointers and was a perfect 6-for-6 from the field against the Miners and is now shooting 40.4 percent from beyond the arc. Zack Bryant poured in 12 points and ranks second on the team with 13.4 points per game.
UTSA (10-11, 3-5) has lost four of its last five games after falling 75-51 Thursday at Middle Tennessee. The Roadrunners dropped to 2-6 on the road and are tied for eighth in the league standings.
Freshman guard Jhivvan Jackson leads UTSA with 18.4 points per game and has made a team-high 55 three-pointers. Fellow freshman guard Keaton Wallace is second for the Roadrunners with 12.3 points and 2.4 assists per game.
UAB and UTSA will meet on the hardwood for the fifth time in school history when the two teams battle on Saturday. The Blazers won each of the first three games between the two teams, but UTSA turned in an 82-67 victory last season in San Antonio. In the previous three match-ups against UTSA, the Blazers won by an average of 13.3 points per game, which includes a 22-point victory (104-82) in 2016 in the most recent meeting in Bartow Arena. Overall, UAB is 2-0 all-time at home against the Roadrunners.
All single game tickets are currently on sale and can be purchased online or by calling the UAB Ticket Office at 205-975-8221. Lower level tickets can be purchased for $20 and upper level seating is on sale for $15. Special group pricing is also available for groups of 20 or more.
