Three members of the UAB softball team will face Team USA in exhibition
BIRMINGHAM, Ala. -- Three members of the UAB softball team have been named to the Alabama Stars roster which will play a pair of double-header exhibition games against the USA Softball Women's National Team.
The first two games will take place July 20 at 6 and 8 p.m. at Rhoads Stadium in Tuscaloosa, Ala.
The second set of double-headers are slated for July 22 at 5 and 7 p.m. at Jane B. Moore Field in Auburn, Ala. The Alabama Stars rosters have been split into the Tuscaloosa roster and the Auburn roster for the series.
Analyse Petree, Natalie Erwin and Destini England; all current players at UAB, appear on the Alabama Stars' Auburn roster. UAB head coach Marla Townsend said it was an honor to have three outstanding athletes represent UAB Softball on the Alabama Stars roster.
"All three players; Destini, Natalie and Analyse are very deserving of this opportunity," Townsend said. "They will represent UAB with class and we are excited that they have the opportunity to play against some of the USA's most talented softball players."
The Alabama Stars represent 14 different colleges and universities with 11 of those 14 schools being located in Alabama. Players from Alabama that have played at Southern Miss, Mississippi State and Tennessee are also on the rosters.
The event is being organized by USA Softball of Alabama and Rec 12. This will be the only two stops on the East Coast for Team USA as it prepares for the Pan Am Games and the Japan Cup in August.
Tickets start at $12.50 for general admission, $22 for Premium Seating at each location. Each event includes a softball players camp and an invitational tournament. Team USA and Alabama Stars practices are open to ticket holders.
