Blazers Finish 2017 Regular Season at Marshall

BIRMINGHAM, Ala. - The UAB softball team will wrap up its regular season this weekend as it travels to Huntington, W. Va., to face Marshall in the last Conference USA series of the year.
A single game will be played Friday at 1 p.m. and a doubleheader will be played Saturday with first pitch scheduled for noon.

THE SERIES
UAB leads the all-time series with Marshall, 20-15. The last time the two teams played was in 2016 in a three-game C-USA series. The Blazers won the series, 2-1. UAB took the first game, 3-1, dropped the second game, 4-3, and won the series finale, 8-1.
ON THE BLAZERS
The Blazers enter the week with a 20-30 overall record and an 11-10 mark in conference play after clinching the series over Middle Tennessee Wednesday.
Destini England continues to lead the Blazers with a .284 batting average. The freshman outfielder also leads the team with 46 hits, 24 runs, 61 total bases and seven triples.
Mary Warren continues to be consistent at the plate. She's second on the squad with a .273 batting average and leads the team with a .443 slugging percentage and a .404 on-base percentage.
Joanna Fallen ranks third on the team with a .252 batting average. The veteran left fielder has tallied 39 hits, crossed the plate 18 times and is tied for a team-high five home runs and 18 RBI.
Claire Blount continues to let opponents know that she's a force to be reckoned with in the circle. The freshman left-hander leads the pitching staff with a 2.65 ERA, has tossed 11 complete games, recorded three shutouts and tallied 117 strikeouts in 147.2 innings of work.
SCOUTING MARSHALL
Marshall enters the weekend with a 37-7 overall record and a 17-3 mark in conference play after sweeping Middle Tennessee.
Morgan Zerkle leads the Thundering Herd's offense with a .474 batting average. The newly NPF drafted senior has a team-high 63 hits, 11 doubles and five triples and is second on the squad with 37 stolen bases.
Jordan Dixon controls the Marshall pitching staff with a 1.71 ERA. The senior right hander has pitched 23 complete games, five of those being shutouts and boasts a 27-5 record. She has recorded 242 strikeouts and opponents are hitting only .191 off of her.
A LOOK AHEAD
UAB will travel to Hattiesburg, Miss., to participate in the C-USA Softball Championships May 10-13.
