IRVING, Texas - UAB women's tennis senior Pardis Kianoush was selected to the All-Conference USA Singles First Team, the league office announced Friday.
It's the fourth consecutive year in which Kianoush has earned all-conference honors in singles play, having been named to the third team in each of the previous three seasons. In addition, she is the first Blazer to earn All-Conference USA First Team honors since Mirela Vladulescu in 2001.
"We could not be happier to see Pardis make the All-Conference USA First Team," UAB head coach Mark Tjia. "This was one of her goals this year, and she certainly deserves to be recognized as one of the best players in the conference. She put together one of the best years in singles and doubles that any Blazer has had, and this is a great way to cap off her career at UAB. I know the entire team is proud of her."
A native of Brighton, England, Kianoush played No. 1 singles for the Blazers all season and ended the year with a team-best eight victories and was part of six unfinished matches.
Earlier this year, Kianoush earned the No. 88 ranking in the Oracle/ITA Collegiate Tennis National Singles Poll, becoming the first Blazer to be nationally ranked since Vladulescu in 2001.
"Making All-Conference USA First Team has been a goal of mine since I made the third team as a freshman, so it feels great to have finally accomplished that in my final season," Kianoush said. "I feel like I have grown so much in my four years here and earning this honor speaks to the improvements I have made as I finish my collegiate career. This award is something I am extremely proud of."
Kianoush also posted a 7-3 doubles record and a 2-1 mark in Conference USA playing alongside Reghan Lynch at No. 1.
