Blazers Fall to Old Dominion at C-USA Championships

DENTON, Texas - The UAB women's tennis team saw its season come to an end on Thursday when the No. 13 seed Blazers were defeated 4-1 by fourth-seeded Old Dominion in the opening round of the C-USA Championships from Waranch Tennis Complex.
UAB scored the first point of the game after rallying to win the final two doubles matches to win the point and build a 1-0 lead. Freshmen Marlene Herrmann and Hana Sisirak answered with a win at No. 2 with a 7-5 victory over Nataliia Vlasova and Marijana Novakovic at No. 2. Senior Pardis Lynch and Reghan Lynch completed the comeback with a 7-5 win over Holly Hutchinson and Ingrid Vojcinakova at No. 1.
Vlasova pulled Old Dominion even after earning a default victory over Taylor Factor at No. 6, while Eliska Petrackova gave the Monarchs a 2-1 edge following her 6-2, 6-0 win over Natalies Voss at No. 5.
Vojcinakova claimed the third consecutive win for Old Dominion when she downed Herrmann 6-4, 6-2 at No. 2. Borislava Botusharov sealed the win for the Monarchs after turning in a 4-6, 6-3, 6-3 victory over Sisirak at No. 3.
