BIRMINGHAM, Ala. – The UAB softball team is set to host the Samford Bulldogs Tuesday, April 18 at 6 p.m. This will be the second time this season the two teams have faced each other, with the Blazers winning the first game, 10-2, in February.

THE SERIES
UAB leads the all-time series with Samford 27-6. This is the second time the two programs have met this season and the Blazers won the first matchup, 10-2, in February.
ON THE BLAZERS
Analyse Petree continues to be a dominating force at the plate. The sophomore second baseman leads the program with a .291 batting average, .436 slugging percentage, .381 on-base percentage and seven doubles while being tied for a team-high 16 RBI.
Destini England has cemented herself in the leadoff position for the Blazers. She is the owner of a .261 batting average and leads the team with 35 hits and 19 runs scored. The speedy freshman has legged out six triples this season putting her at second in the UAB record books in single-season triples and seventh in career triples.
Joanna Fallen is consistent at the plate for UAB. The senior left fielder is second on the squad with a .266 batting average, 34 hits, 16 runs, and 15 RBI. She is tied for a team-high five home runs and is slugging .414.
Claire Blount and Cara Goodwin are the leaders on the UAB pitching staff. Blount leads the staff with a 2.87 ERA and 7-9 record. The freshman lefty has tossed nine complete games, recorded two shutouts and tallied 106 strikeouts in 129.1 innings of work.
Goodwin seems to have found her rhythm in the circle. She owns a 3.83 ERA, has pitched six complete games, one shutout and recorded 65 strikeouts in 86.0 innings.
SCOUTING SAMFORD
Shelby Maze leads the Bulldogs offensively. She is one of only two players that have started all 46 games and is batting .430. She has tallied an impressive 71 hits so far this season and has crossed the plate a team-high 36 times.
Abby Sweeney is the power at the plate for Samford. She leads the team with 31 RBI, seven home runs and a .531 slugging percentage.
Grey Adams is the ace in the circle for the Bulldogs. She boasts a 3.12 ERA and 8-11 record while throwing nine complete games, two shutouts and tallying 96 strikeouts in 132.1 innings pitched.

A LOOK AHEAD
The Blazers will be back in action Thursday night as they host No. 10 Washington at Mary Bowers Field. First pitch is scheduled for 6 p.m.
