Blazers Host North Texas in Three-Game Conference Matchup

BIRMINGHAM, Ala. - The UAB softball team continues Conference USA play by hosting a three-game series against North Texas at Mary Bowers Field this weekend. The two teams will play a doubleheader on Friday beginning at 4 p.m. and the series finale is scheduled for Saturday at 1 p.m.

THE SERIES
UAB and North Texas will meet for the 10th time in program history this weekend. The Blazers lead the all-time series with the Mean Green, 7-2. The last time the two teams met was in 2016 where North Texas took the 2-1 series win in Denton, Texas.
ON THE BLAZERS
Analyse Petree leads the Blazers offensively with a .287 batting average and seven doubles. The sophomore second baseman also has a team-high .379 on-base percentage and is second on the squad with a .416 slugging percentage.
Destini England continues to be consistent at the dish for UAB with a .264 batting average. She has 19 runs on 33 hits and has legged out five triples. The speedy freshman is second on the team with 43 total bases and seven stolen bases.
Joanna Fallen brings the power at the plate for the Blazers. She leads the team with a .424 slugging percentage and is tied for a team-high five home runs. She’s second on the squad with 31 hits and has crossed the plate 15 times.
Claire Blount leads the UAB pitching staff with a 3.00 ERA. The freshman left-hander has started 14 games, pitched two shutouts, recorded one save and tallied 96 strikeouts in 119.0 innings of work.
Cara Goodwin has made her presence known in the circle the past few weeks. The veteran right-hander has tossed five complete games, recorded 50 strikeouts and one shutout in 75.1 innings pitched.
SCOUTING NORTH TEXAS
Kelli Schkade leads the Mean Green offensively in many categories. The senior infielder has a team-high .364 batting average, 47 hits, 35 runs, six home runs and is slugging .636.
She also leads the squad with 16 stolen bases, a .442 on-base percentage and has only struck out six times through 39 games.
Stacey Underwood leads the North Texas pitching staff with a 12-7 record and boasts a 2.80 ERA. The senior from Hico, Texas, has tossed 12 complete games, three shutouts and tallied 75 strikeouts in130.0 innings.
