ATLANTA, Ga. – The UAB women’s tennis dropped a 5-2 decision to Georgia State Wednesday afternoon from Piedmont Park.
Georgia State won the doubles point following a forfeit victory at No. 3 and a 7-5 win from Tarani Kamoe and Arina Taluyenko at No. 2.
The Panthers earned a second forfeit win at No. 6 singles to build a 2-0 lead and then used a 6-0, 6-0 victory from Lara Vovk at No. 4 to score their third point of the match.
Natalie Voss cut the lead to 3-1 when she downed Ilona Golynker 6-2, 6-1 at No. 5, and Reghan Lynch pulled the Blazers within a point after beating Kamoe 6-2, 6-2 at No. 3.
Damira Muminovic, however, thwarted the comeback attempt and clinched the win for Georgia State with a 6-4, 6-0 win at No. 2 over Hana Sisirak.
UAB returns to action Saturday at 1 p.m. when the Blazers host Jackson State on Senior Day from George Ward Park.
