UAB Men’s Soccer Welcomes Central Arkansas for Homecoming

BIRMINGHAM, Ala. – The UAB men's soccer team welcomes Central Arkansas to BBVA Compass Field on Saturday night for Homecoming. Kick off between the Blazers and Bears is slated for 7 p.m.
UAB (2-4-3, 0-3-1) is coming off of a 4-1 loss at Georgia State on Tuesday night. Matheiu Laurent netted his first career for the Green and Gold goal off of a cross from Donovan Watson for in the 82nd minute.
After missing the first part of the season, Watson has made his way into the UAB lineup and made the most of his time. The freshman has tallied assists in the previous two games for the Blazers while earning starts in the last three.
Massimo Ferrin leads the UAB offensive attack with three goals and an assist on the season for a team high seven points.
In Conference USA play, senior Rami Dajani has been the biggest offensive threat. Dajani has picked up two goals with four points and has a 60 percent shot on goal percentage.
Central Arkansas enters Saturday's contest with a 5-6-0 record and are riding a four-game winning streak. The dominant Bears' offense is averaging 1.7 goals a game.
Niklas Brodacki leads the NCAA's 19th best scoring offense with eight goals this season. He ranks fifth in the country in total goals while his 18 points is good for the eighth most by a player in the NCAA this season. The sophomore forward has found the back of the net in each of the last four games.
Marc Olsen is another talented sophomore for the Bears. At keeper this season he has a 5-4-0 record to go along with 34 saves on 58 attempts.
UAB and Central Arkansas are meeting for just the second time in program history. The Blazers took the lone match in the series 2-1 on Sept. 19, 2009.
Saturday night's match is one of many events as part of UAB's Homecoming festivities. Fans who attend the UAB Football game against LA Tech can bring their ticket stub to BBVA Compass Field for a $3 entry into the soccer match. In addition, there will be a one-way shuttle from Legion Field directly to BBVA Compass Field following the conclusion of the football game.
Saturday is also Superhero Night celebrating our local heroes. First responders, medical and military personnel are eligible to receive up to four tickets at a special $3 rate. Additionally, the first 200 fans will receive Superhero Capes upon entry.
