BIRMINGHAM, Ala. – The UAB men's soccer team plays its final Conference USA road match of the season when it travels to Marshall Saturday at 6:30 p.m. from Veterans Memorial Soccer Complex.
UAB enters the contest with a 5-5-4 mark overall and 1-4-1 in league play. The Blazers are coming off of a 1-1 double overtime home tie against Lipscomb on Tuesday. The draw secured an unbeaten non-conference home slate for the first time since 2014.
Aidan O'Hara netted the Blazers goal against Lipscomb marking the freshman's second career goal. O'Hara is apart a balanced offensive attack that has seen 10 different players find the back of the net.
James Teal looks to continue his stellar freshman campaign in goal for the Blazers. Teal ranks fourth in total saves (57), fifth in save percentage (.781), eighth in saves per game (4.1) and 13th in goals against average (1.10) among freshmen goalies in the NCAA this season.
Marshall sits with a record of 6-7-1 overall and a 2-4-0 mark in league play but are looking to snap a two game losing skid. The Thundering Herd are one of the top attacking teams in the country as they rank 14th in the NCAA in shots on with 6.8 per game.
Lewis Knight leads Marshall in goals and ranks second in Conference USA with nine.
Nate Himes leads the three Marshall keepers with an 83.9 save percentage. Himes has logged 647:40 minutes and holds a 5-2 record.
UAB and Marshall are meeting for the 14th time in program history with the Blazers holding an 11-3-1 advantage. UAB prevailed in the previous meeting last season with a 3-0 victory at BBVA Compass Field.
